This site has been updated on May 16, 2013. I’m leading this issue with a review of one of the most moving and, I think, important books I’ve read in ages. It is “Bench-Pressed” by Susan Yarbrough.

My work is about helping people, myself included, live life in a more satisfactorily way. I believe something I read that Albert Einstein said: The problems of life cannot be solved with the same consciousness that created them. In working to achieve both a different perspective on life and a different position from which to see, I seek a variety of ways to assist us in experiencing life and ourselves with what the mystics calls “non-dual mind.” The longer I have done this work the more convinced I have become that non-dual mind cannot be communicated. Non-dual mind communicates itself. Our task, and my work, is all about creating the contexts in which we can experience this transformation.

My commitment as a teacher, counselor, speaker and consultant is to contribute to people finding and experiencing more freedom and happiness in their lives.

Often, as this painting below shows, we think we are firmly imprisoned when the facts are that we aren’t. By becoming aware of how we have created the various worlds in which we live by the beliefs we hold - many of which we aren’t even aware of - we can experience freedom and happiness.

To see what is in front of one’s nose needs a constant struggle. - George Orwell

I have recently added and will update regularly a page devoted to “resources” for personal and relational growth. It consists of mostly book recommendations but will also include occasional movies that have been significant for me and that I think you would like. To go directly to this page click here

I have also added page containing text, handout and presentation slides of a talk I recently gave to mental health professions on the intersection of psychotherapy and spirituality. It is titled, “Hidden in Plain Sight.”
